VOA "Optometric Open" Golf Outing

golfAlways popular... the VOA Fall Conference will once again host the VOA "Optometric Open" golf outing on the afternoon of Saturday, October 23rd. (Separate, advance registration required.) Golf Outing is OPEN TO PLAYERS OF ALL ABILITIES. Captain’s Choice format. You may request placement in a particular foursome or we'll make arrangements for you. [Handicap or average score is required when registering.]

This year's outing will be at the Reston National Golf Course. Advance registration of $100 per golfer which includes box lunch and beverages, practice range, round of golf, cart and greens fees, and awards reception following outing including prizes.Tee times will be assigned and announced at conference registration table on Saturday morning. Golfers are responsible for their own transportation to/from the golf course a few minutes from the Ritz-Carlton. Awards will be presented at reception.You must register in advance to participate in the golf outing.  Sorry, no on site registrations.

Neuro-ophthalmic diseases affect a growing number of patients. This course will highlight the specifics of performing a neuro-ophthalmic examination. Case studies will be presented so the attendees will be able to work through specific cases and see the workups through to the final plan. The concept of differential diagnosis in NeuroEye cases will be detailed.

Practicing Full Scope Optometry *2 hrs CE credit available

With the expansion of our scope of practice, optometrists are being faced with more difficult clinical conditions to treat. This course will present challenging cases and a template on how to work through such cases. The concept of differential diagnosis will be highlighted.

Separate & Additional Registration required. Registration deadline October 8th. No at the door registrations. Those participating in golf outing may wish to wear golf attire (collared shirts, no jeans) to am classroom as tee times will start immediately after am lecture.

presented by Bruce Onofrey, O.D. of Houston, TX
A complete review of the indications, contraindications, side effects and dosages of major analgesic/anti-inflammatory agents will be given. Drug selection criteria of both narcotic and non-narcotic medications are discussed. The use of steroids vs. NSAIDS is covered in detail.

10:10 am - Noon Oral medication in Eye Care for the High Risk Patient *2 hrs CE credit available
presented by Bruce Onofrey, O.D. of Houston, TX
A complete oral medication review of the indications, contraindications, side effects and dosages for high risk patients including pediatrics, pregnancy and seniors. Drug selection criteria for ophthalmic conditions are discussed in detail.

Continuing Education CreditThe VOA is a Virginia Board of Optometry approved provider of continuing education courses. This VOA sponsored program provides eight hours of continuing education credit in accordance with the Board’s regulations. Approval by State Boards’ other than Virginia is the responsibility of the licensee. Those attending the Fall Conference will be provided evidence of their attendance for use in renewing their license. Current Virginia OD license year ends December 31st.

From Richmond and all points South: Approaching the Capital Beltway from the South on I -95 North, Take I-495 West (Rockville/Tysons Corner). Parking at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner (McLean, VA)

The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner charges for parking. Overnight valet parking is $30 per day. Day valet parking is $15 per day. If you would prefer to self-park, it is $5 per exit Monday through Friday. There is no charge for self parking on Saturday or Sunday.

Partial refunds will be made upon written request until October 8, 2010. After this date, no refunds will be considered.
