Check out Dr. Jeff Michaels' interview on the metro Richmond NBC affiliate in which he addresses illegal sale of contact lenses and the potential for harm to patients, including plano contacts purchased at beauty salons or even flea markets.  Legislation successfully initiated by the VOA a few years ago clarified that all contact lenses, including plano, may only be sold on the Rx of an optometric physician or ophthalmologist, and dispensed only by those licensed to prescribe contacts (and licensed opticians on the Rx of an eye doctor).  To watch the video, click here (you must have Adobe Flash Player 10 installed to see the video).
