Advocacy at the Nation's Capitol

A record number of VOA members attended the recent AOA Advocacy Conference, visiting with the Virginia federal delegation in D.C.  Pictured are Drs. Kurt Finney and Sam Smart visited with Rep. Robert Wittman (R-1st).  This event was organized by Dr. Jeff Michaels, VOA Federal Advocacy Coordinator, with the assistance of Laura Smith, Director of VOA Member Services.  Nearly twenty Virginia Optometrists presented the profession's position and information on key federal issues.  Each year the AOA hosts this Conference, which includes training sessions, briefing updates and presentations by key members of Congress.
