Financial incentives will be available for the soon to be required electronic health records (EHR). While full details are not yet available, good news is that optometrists may reap some financial incentives when purchasing certified EHR systems.

Remember, who can "certify" systems are still in the development stages. So if you purchase EHR systems now, make sure your contract guarantees it will be certified and that you’ll be eligible for the financial benefits from the federal government.
